Nominees Sought for the 2016 Penta Career Center Outstanding Alumni Awards
     Penta Career Center is searching for successful individuals for its annual Outstanding Alumni Awards. Since its inception in 1993, these prestigious awards have been presented to 138 Penta alumni. Recipients of Penta’s 2016 Outstanding Alumni Awards will be honored at a special banquet at the high school on November 10, 2016.
      The Outstanding Alumni Awards are bestowed to individuals who have completed a career-technical program at Penta Career Center (formerly known as Penta County Vocational School) and who are currently working in a successful career. Nominees must have completed a high school or adult education program at Penta prior to 2006.
     Applications for the Penta 2016 Outstanding Alumni Awards are available by clicking HERE.   Deadline for completed applications is September 15, 2016.
 
New Graduation Requirements - Class of 2018 & Beyond
Students and Parents .... please be aware that the Ohio Department of Education has recently announced new graduation requirements for the Class of 2018 and beyond. ODE is offering several tools that can help you understand this information. Please click HERE to go the ODE web site where you can access a handout, a short video, and a PowerPoint presentation. Schaller Recognized as OATFACS Teacher of the Year
Congratulations to Kay-Lynne Schaller, Penta instructor of Family and Consumer Science at Anthony Wayne Junior High, who was honored on August 1 by the Ohio Association of Teachers of Family and Consumer Science (OATFACS) with the 2016 Teacher of the Year Award. Schaller was recognized for providing outstanding career and technical education programs for youth. 
Students Earn Top Awards at FCCLA National Leadership Conference!
     Congratulations to students from Penta Career Center’s Early Childhood Education, Culinary Arts, and satellite Family and Consumer Sciences programs who competed at the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) National Leadership Conference held July 3-7, 2016 in San Diego, California. Thirty students earned either gold or silver medals in various competitions. 
Santellana Places 8th at National SkillsUSA Conference
Congratulations to Alex Santellana (Rossford), from the Class of 2016, who earned 8th place in the nation at the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference for the Extemporaneous Speech contest. Santellana, who completed Penta's Advanced Manufacturing Technology program in May, competed June 20-24, 2016 in Louisville, Kentucky. He qualified for the national competition by earning first place and a gold medal at the SkillsUSA Ohio Championships this past spring in Columbus. 
2016 STEM Summer Camp a Great Success!
       Over 100 students in grades 7 to 9 participated in Penta Career Center's annual STEM Summer Camp this past week. The campers explored areas such as: Basic Game Design, Construction Carpentry, Culinary Arts, Manufacturing Technologies, and Residential Mechanical Systems. The campers participated in a different program each day which was designed to increase their understanding of how Science, Technology, Engineering and Math skills are used in a variety of career fields. 
Area Adults Honored for Earning their GED
     Penta Career Center’s Adult Education Division held its annual Adult Basic and Literacy Education (ABLE) Graduation Ceremony on Thursday, June 16, 2016 in the Susor Auditorium at Penta Career Center, 9301 Buck Road in Perrysburg Township. Penta had 120 successful GED completers and 51 adults were recognized at the event. 
Congratulations to the Class of 2016!
     The 51st senior class at Penta Career Center was honored May 17-19, 2016 during six separate ceremonies in the Susor Auditorium on the Penta campus. This year, 809 seniors from Penta Career Center’s on campus and satellite programs completed their career-technical programs and received their Career Passports through Penta. In addition, the Outstanding Student Award was presented to 50 seniors based on performance and excellence in their individual career-technical program.
