There are scholarships of all different kinds available to students. Here, we will provide information on a number of local scholarships. If you are interested in searching for scholarships on a larger scale, consider using websites such as Big Future by the College Board, Cappex, Scholarships.com, or Fastweb. There are a large number of additional scholarship search websites. It is also a good idea to look for scholarships directly on the website of the college or university you plan to attend. As a general rule, you should never pay to apply for a scholarship.

Penta Career Center Common Scholarship Application

Students may use the Penta Career Center Common Scholarship Application to apply to a variety of scholarships available only to Penta seniors. Many of these scholarships may be used for either post-secondary education or tools/resources to get students started in their career after high school. Hirzel Excellence Award

This scholarship is offered in honor of Karl A. Hirzel, Sr. and Rosalie Hirzel. The Hirzel Excellence Award is available only to Penta Career Center seniors. Students may apply for funds for postsecondary education or for a resource assistance award to purchase tools or other equipment needed to enter the workforce.

Bates Recycling Scholarship

Bates Recycling in Jerry City is generously offering one $500 scholarship to a graduating Penta Career Center Senior.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for a $500 scholarship, all students must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Be a born U.S. citizen
- Be enrolled as a senior at Penta Career, Perrysburg, Ohio
- Completed and submitted application materials by postmarked deadline date.
- Maintain a minimum 2.75 GPA.

Local Drive Scholarship
Deadline: March 31, 2025
Local Drive is proud to offer five scholarships, each up to $1,000, to support Wood County high school students pursuing trade schools, two-year degrees, or agricultural programs. These scholarships can be applied toward tuition, school expenses, or tools needed for your chosen trade. Eligible applicants must be between 17 and 23 years old at the time of application and provide proof of acceptance to a program or a plan for utilizing the scholarship. Funds will be paid directly to the school, organization, or vendor for equipment purchases.

Medical Mutual Scholarship Fund
Deadline: March 15, 2025
to announce that applications are now being accepted for the Medical Mutual Scholarship Fund for Customer Schools. Through this program, seniors graduating from Ohio school districts that carry Medical Mutual insurance (Penta students are eligible!) are now eligible to apply online for a one-time $1,000 scholarship toward college tuition. Additionally, six top applicants across the state will receive a $10,000 award for their outstanding academic and community service efforts.

The Wood County Republican Women's Club (WCRWC) Scholarship
Deadline: March 30, 2025
The Wood County Republican Women’s Club (WCRWC) is pleased to announce the awarding of two $1,000 scholarships, as well as two $500 scholarships from the Evelyn Bachman Fund. The scholarship winners will be announced in May 2025. The funds have no usage restrictions but will be sent to the student's college or university.
WCRWC was founded in the early 1900’s. Serving the Republican women of Wood County, it provides political education and updates that advance and perpetuate the principles of the Republican Party. Our mission is to provide a forum for all women to be key players at the political table on national, state, and local issues. The WCRWC strengthens the Republican Party by recruiting and elevating candidates; advocating the Party’s philosophy and initiatives; and empowering women of all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds in the political process.

The Wood County Township Association Scholarship
Deadline: April 4, 2025
The WCTA is proud to offer to any Wood County graduating high school senior, who meets the criteria outline below, the opportunity to apply for a one-time, nonrenewable $1,000.00 scholarship. Two scholarships are planned to be awarded each year. This money is to be used toward tuition, books and/or fees at any academic, technical or vocational institution. These scholarships are made available using donated funds (no tax dollars are used) by the Wood County Township Association Scholarship Committee.
Selection Criteria:
-Applicant must be a high school senior eligible for graduation and a resident of a Wood County township or resident of an incorporated entity (village) within a Wood County township whose voters are eligible to vote on township ballot issues.
-Applicant must be planning to attend an accredited college or university, or technical or vocational institution.
-Applicant must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
Requirements (all of the following):
-Complete the application available at the link below.
-A 350 – 500 word essay, explained further on application.
-Official high school transcript.
-Two letters of recommendation from non-family members.
If already accepted to an accredited college or university, or technical or vocational institution, attach a copy of the letter of acceptance or other documentation.
It is recommended that applicant attend a local township meeting.

Anthony Wayne Area Democratic Club Scholarship
Deadline: April 18, 2025
The 2025 Anthony Wayne Area Democratic Club Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating
senior who;
1) has demonstrated school and community commitment
2) recognizes the importance of the democratic process, and
3) plans to continue their education or job training after graduating from Anthony Wayne High School.
PURPOSE: This scholarship shall be awarded to defray the cost of tuition, room and board, equipment or tools, books or supplies, while attending a post-secondary institution.
ELIGIBILITY: Any graduating senior in the Anthony Wayne School District is eligible to apply, including those attending Penta Career Center. (Children and grandchildren of members of the Anthony Wayne Area Democratic Club are not eligible to receive this award)
AMOUNT: One scholarship of $500 shall be awarded.
ANNOUNCING THE AWARD: The award shall be announced in Spring 2025 with the winner and
family invited to our club meeting on May 21st at the Waterville Public Library.
Progressive Fishing Association, Inc. Scholarship
Deadline: May 1, 2025
The PFA scholarship was established to assist young men and women who choose educational opportunities that would not normally qualify for financial aid. In order to qualify for this scholarship, the applicant must be seeking education that offers training in programs designed to provide direct hands-on work in the out-of-doors, parks and recreation, ranger services, forestry, conservation or similar programs.
Students should have an overall GPA of 2.0 - 3.4. Each applicant must complete the Progressive Fishing Association Scholarship Application including a general essay. Within the essay, applicants should outline their career goals. Potential candidates will also be screened in a one-on-one meeting with committee members.

Owens Tech Prep Scholarship
The Tech Prep Scholarship is available for fall and spring, for up to four consecutive semesters. The maximum award is $500 per semester towards instructional and general fees, and an allowance for books, that are not paid by other financial aid, such as the Federal Pell Grant.
- You must meet the following criteria to be considered for the scholarship.
- Achieve a minimum 2.5 GPA by the end of your 7th high school semester.
- Enroll at Owens Community College for the fall semester immediately following high school graduation.
- Maintain full-time enrollment (12 or more credit hours) in fall and spring semesters with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better. Continuous full-time enrollment in fall and spring semesters is required in order to continue receiving the scholarship.
- Declare an associate degree program which is related to your high school Tech Prep career pathway.
- Indicate the intent to obtain a certificate, or to obtain an associate degree for transfer to another college or for the job market. Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for each academic year.
- Complete the verification process if the your FAFSA application is selected for verification.

Owens Board of Trustees Scholarship
The Board of Trustees Scholarship is $1,000 per semester for up to four consecutive semesters. The scholarship begins in fall semester; summer enrollment is optional. All awards are based upon available funding.
Students who will be enrolling at Owens in the fall semester immediately after graduating from a high school in the Owens legal district, and who have a high school GPA of 3.7 or above, must submit official high school transcripts on or after May 15 at the conclusion of their junior year to be considered.
In addition, students who meet one of the following qualifications may apply for the scholarship by submitting the Board of Trustees Scholarship — Nomination Form. The due date for nomination forms is July 15.
A high school senior attending a high school located in the Owens legal district, who has a high school GPA of 3.0 – 3.69, demonstrates student motivation, and enrolls in the fall semester immediately following high school graduation.
All recipients must meet the following criteria:
Apply for admission to Owens as a regular student
Pursue a degree or certificate with the intent to complete at Owens Community College
Maintain full-time enrollment at a minimum of twelve credit hours each semester
Maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average to continue eligibility for each semester at Owens, for a maximum of four total consecutive semesters (summer optional)

SME Education Foundation Scholarship
For more than 40 years, the SME Education Foundation has been a leader in supporting the next generation of manufacturing and engineering talent. This scholarship program awards millions of dollars to hundreds of graduating high school seniors and current college students pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering or related discipline.
