OTC+

The Ohio Technical Center Plus (OTC+) program allows Career-Technical Education Providers and Ohio Technical Centers to work together to provide access to high-quality career-technical education (CTE) that meets the needs of Ohio’s workforce.

Through this program, eligible high school students can participate at no cost, as tuition is covered through Career-Technical Education (CTE) funding.

This program offers flexibility for students who may not be able to enroll in courses at their high school due to:

• Course capacity limits
• Scheduling conflicts
• Lack of course offerings
• Lack of qualified instructors
• Limited facilities

OTC+ allows schools to customize opportunities while giving students access to industry-recognized credential programs through Ohio Technical Centers.

Students may participate in the OTC+ program if they:

• Live in Ohio
• Are in their junior or senior year of high school
• Can attend evening classes
• Must meet additional program requirements depending on the course
  • Driver’s license or State ID
  • Vaccinations
  • Criminal background check
  • Other program-specific requirements

• Construction Technologies
• Dental Assisting
• Firefighter 1 & 2
• Intro to HVAC
• Phlebotomy 
• Intermediate Welding
• Nail Technician

• Complete the required OTC+ Student Enrollment Form
• Provide their high school counselor or Career Tech (CT) instructor’s contact information within the form
• After submission, a verification form will be automatically emailed to the school counselor/CT instructor for completion
• Understand that Penta Career Center makes the final admission decision. Once approved by the Adult Education office, you will receive a link to complete your application in the Adult Education Student Portal.

Grades earned in OTC+ courses will be recorded on the student’s high school transcript.

Being “OTC+ ready” means more than just academic readiness. Students should consider:

• Time Management: Balancing high school and a 17-week evening program requires strong organization

• Commitment: Regular attendance and participation are required

• Transportation: Students are responsible for getting to and from class

• Independent Learning: Some coursework may be completed outside of class

• Maturity Level: Students will be in classes with adult learners and must demonstrate responsibility and self-discipline
