OTC+

What is OTC+?

Career-Technical Education Providers and Ohio Technical Centers to collaboratively provide access to high-quality career-technical education (CTE) that meets the needs of Ohio’s workforce.

This program delivery model is intended to provide the flexibility schools need in preparing students for their future when students cannot enroll locally due to course capacity, scheduling conflicts, lack of course offering, lack of qualified instructor, or lack of facilities.

The policy allows for local flexibility and customization providing multiple approaches for implementation. The guidance reflects a broad overview of design, implementation, and reporting of the CTE workforce and industry credential only programs in the location of the Ohio Technical Center.

How can students participate?

Step 1: Eligibility
A student is eligible for the Ohio Technical Center Plus (OTC+) program if they meet any of the following criteria:
  • Live in Ohio
  • They must be in their junior or senior year of high school
  • Ability to attend classes at night
Step 2: Admission Policy
To apply for the OTC+ program, a student must:
  • Complete the OTC+ Interest From
  • Understand that Penta Career Center makes the final admission decision
  • Once approved, the student will need to submit a formal admission form through the Adult Education Student Portal
Step 3: Course Offered
The following courses are the only OTC+ courses available at this time: 
  • Auto Maintenance and Light Repair
  • CNC Programming/Precision Machining
  • Construction Technologies
  • Dental Assisting
  • Intro to HVAC
  • Phlebotomy 
  • Welding

Additional Considerations

Grades
The final grades earned in the post-secondary course are the same grade that will be on the high school transcript.

  • Consider emotional and social transition and OTC’s expectations
  • Consider time management and organizational skills

What are the expenses for OTC+?

Students completing an Industry Credential program at Penta Career Center are CTE program funding eligible.
