William Green Elected Board of Education President

The Penta Career Center Board of Education, during its January 15, 2014 organizational meeting, has elected William Green (Swanton, Ohio), of the Northwest Ohio Educational Service Center, as president of the Board. In addition, Paul Walker (Bowling Green, Ohio), who represents the Bowling Green City School District, was elected vice president of the Penta Board.

The Penta Career Center Board of Education is comprised of nine members who are chosen to serve through appointment by their respective Boards of Education. New statewide career center membership criteria was established by House Bill 59 (effective September 29, 2013). The state’s new membership criteria includes: new 3-year terms (maximum of two consecutive terms); diversity of employers; residency/employment mandates; and experience as chief financial officers, chief executive officers, human resources managers, or other business, industry or career counseling professionals. The new membership criteria also allows current board members to serve out their unexpired terms.

The following Penta Board of Education members began serving new terms through December 31, 2016: Ken Sutter, who represents the Rossford Exempted Village School District; Joseph Rutherford, who represents the Educational Service Center of Lake Erie West; Judith Sander, who represents the North Point Educational Service Center; Judith Paredes, who represents the Wood County Educational Service Center; and Robert Righi, who represents the Maumee City School District.

The following Board members will continue to serve unexpired terms through December 31, 2014: Mark Schoenlein, who represents the Perrysburg Exempted Village School District; Kathy Limes, who represents the Wood County Educational Service Center; Paul Walker; and William Green.

Also during the Board’s organizational meeting, members voted to keep the 5:15 p.m. meeting time on the second Wednesday of each month. The meetings are held in the Board of Education meeting room on the Penta campus.
