New Formula Student USA Racing Project
New Formula Student USA Racing Project     The Automotive Technology programs at Penta Career Center will soon be able to build and race Formula First race vehicles thanks to a generous donation from Mark Schoenlein, current member of the Penta Board of Education, and a matching gift from his employer, O-I and The O-I Charities Foundation. During the June 28 Penta Board of Education meeting, Schoenlein and his wife, Meg, presented a check for $3,000 and O-I matched the Schoenleins’ gift with a $6,000 check.
“We are very grateful to the Schoenleins and O-I for these generous donations,” said Ronald Matter, superintendent of Penta Career Center. “Our students and staff are excited for this opportunity which will ultimately enhance their career-technical experience and enable them to learn 21st century skills so they can be successful in the workforce.”
The students will work with a well-known program called Formula Student USA to develop the racing project at Penta. Plans include involving many Penta programs in the project including Automotive Technology, Automotive Collision Repair, Powersports & Engine Systems, Welding, and Marketing Education. The project is expected to begin during the 2017-2018 school year.
