40 Students Earn Top Awards at the SkillsUSA Regional Contest
2018 SkillsUSA Regionals      On February 16, 40 Penta Career Center students earned top awards at the SkillsUSA Regional Competition at Four County Career Center in Archbold, Ohio.  See below for the list of Penta students who earned awards at the regional competition and qualify for the Ohio SkillsUSA Championships in Columbus, Ohio on April 24 & 25, 2018.  
      First Place (gold medal) winners were: Nicholas Alonzo (Lake) for the Photography contest; Kamilah Bakhsh (Anthony Wayne) for the Criminal Justice contest; Colton Fugate (Rossford) for the Welding contest; and Morgan Smolinski and Celina Stevens, both from Perrysburg, for the Esthetics contest.  
      Second Place (silver medal) winners were: Jasmin Alejo (Bowling Green) for the Crime Scene Investigation contest; Megan Browne (Eastwood) for the Nail Care contest; Daniel Conklin (Lake) for the Information Technology Services contest; Ann Cousino (Otsego) for the Automotive Refinishing Technology contest; Matthew Davis (North Baltimore) for the Technical Drafting contest; Kristen Ebert (Rossford) for the Team Works contest; Jaelynn Fairchild (Lake) for the Health Knowledge Bowl contest; Allie Jude (Northwood) for the Crime Scene Investigation contest; Carley Kidd (Lake) for the Health Knowledge Bowl contest; Devin Krout (Perrysburg) for the Crime Scene Investigation contest; Matthew Lorenzen (Swanton) for the Extemporaneous Speech contest; Tanner Northrup (Woodmore) for the Welding contest;  DJ Rolf (Eastwood) for the Team Works contest; Brylie Short (Bowling Green) for the Health Knowledge Bowl contest;  Kristoffer Toler-Amborski (Anthony Wayne) for the Team Works contest;  Tyler Tucker (Bowling Green) for the Team Works contest; Chase Weber (Lake) for the Collision Repair Technology contest;  Catherine Young (Elmwood) for the Prepared Speech contest; RaiLyn Zamarripa (Bowling Green) for the Nail Care contest; and Jacob Zatko (Eastwood) for the Electrical Construction Wiring contest.  
      Third Place (bronze medal) winners were:  Angela Elliott (Elmwood) for the Promotional Bulletin Board contest; Sophie Goble (Eastwood), Sarah Hablitzel (Oak Harbor), Harmony Hunt (Northwood),  Sharika Richardson (Eastwood), Carson Selley (Perrysburg),  Tessa Shifflet (North Baltimore), and Jillian Staneart (Bowling Green), all for the Opening and Closing Team contest; Nina Smith (Perrysburg) for the Culinary Arts contest; Blade Lee (Maumee) for the Architectural Drafting contest; Solana Lopez (Eastwood) for the Promotional Bulletin Board contest; Devin Merritt (Elmwood) for the Promotional Bulletin Board contest;  Ellise Pierce (Lake) for the Medical Terminology contest; Taylor Sherman (Perrysburg) for the Nurse Assisting contest; and Juan Villegas (Northwood) for the Advertising Design contest.
      SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization serving teachers and high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations.  The organization provides quality educational experiences such as leadership, teamwork, citizenship, and character development skills.
