1965 Ford F-100 Restoration Project Earns Awards at AutoRama

The Automotive Technology and Automotive Collision Repair programs at Penta Career Center won first and third place awards for the restored 1965 Ford F-100 truck at the 2015 AutoRama at Cobo Center in Detroit March 6 - 8. Penta took first place in the high school division and third place in the 1957-1972 division.
The truck restoration project began in 2011 and was completed in the fall of 2014. Over the past three years, juniors and seniors in Penta's Automotive Technology and Automotive Collision Repair programs, under the supervision of instructors Bob Anderson and Eric Eisel, spent hundreds of hours working on this project. The restoration included: a Ford 352 cu. In. V-8 engine; a Ford C-6 automatic transmission; custom built Cragar wheels; modern stereo; base coat/clear coat paint; power steering; power disc brakes; serpentine belt accessory drive; and electric cooling fan. Other Penta programs that worked on the project over the past few years included: Welding, Computer Aided Design and Advanced Manufacturing Technologies.
The truck will be used for special events and is a fitting recognition of Penta's 50th Anniversary year in 2015. For more information about the Ford F-100 restoration project, please contact Bob Anderson, instructor of Automotive Technology, at 419-666-1120 Ext. 1428.
