Culinary Arts Students Prepare Dishes from 11 Countries for Taste of the Nations March 12 & 13, 2015

High school seniors, who are studying Culinary Arts at Penta Career Center, have spent the past few weeks researching foods from foreign countries and will be preparing many delectable dishes for sampling during an event called “Taste of the Nations” on Thursday, March 12 and Friday, March 13, 2015 between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Taste of the Nations will take place in the student-operated Culinary Connection restaurant on the campus of Penta Career Center, 9301 Buck Road in Perrysburg Township. Cost for Taste of the Nations is $10 per person.

The students will be preparing a variety of dishes from 11 countries. The menu includes: France - coq au vin and raspberry French macaroons; England – fish n’chips and shepherd’s pie; Spain – crispy octopus and crema catalan; Russia – shchi (cabbage soup) and Russian tea cakes; Japan – shrimp sushi and fruit mochi; Australia – lamb sliders with kiwi BBQ sauce; Jamaica – jerk pork loin and tropical fruit shortcake; Germany – soft pretzel with spicy cheese sauce and raspberry berliner pfannkuchen (doughnut); Mexico – chicken taquitos; Italy – goat cheese arancini and cassata cake; and South Korea – beef bulgogi lettuce wrap.
