Students Earn Awards at National FCCLA Conference

Students Earn Awards at National FCCLA Conference

     Congratulations to students from Penta Career Center’s Early Childhood Education, Teaching Professions, Culinary Arts, and satellite Family and Consumer Sciences programs who earned either gold, silver or bronze medals in various competitions at the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) National Leadership Conference held July 6-9, 2015 in Washington D.C.  
     The following high school students earned gold awards: Abigail Brannan (Penta/Anthony Wayne) for Food Innovations; Madisyn Curry (Penta/Anthony Wayne) for Recycle & Redesign; Hannah Garcia (Springfield) for Leadership; and Jennifer Easter (Lake) for Teach & Train. Penta/Anthony Wayne junior high students who earned gold awards included: Deena Amrou for Advocacy; Elizabeth Nitz for Nutrition and Wellness; Aishwarya Ramaswami for Life Planning event; Mason Lyons for Illustrated Talk; and Mustafa Ilgin for Career Invest. Also earning gold medals were: Anna Dedes from the Penta/Oak Harbor Junior High for the Chapter Service project and Annabella Voska from the Penta/Otsego Junior High for the Focus on Children project.
      High school students earning silver awards included: Lauren Conklin (Penta/Anthony Wayne) for Leadership; Josephine Monroe (Penta/Anthony Wayne) for Teach & Train; Kelly Baranowski (Springfield) for Digital Stories; Jocelynn Hartbarger (Perrysburg) for Promote and Publicize FCCLA; I’Chara McClure (Bowling Green) for Digital Stories; Katelyn Rhodes (Eastwood) for Entrepreneurship; Jacob Malone (Swanton) for Entrepreneurship; Abbianne Coil (Perrysburg) for Chapter Web Site; and Alyssa Pike (Bowling Green) for Chapter Web Site.
     Junior high school students who earned silver awards included: Chloe Rork (Penta/Anthony Wayne) for Sports Nutrition; Jack Garver (Penta/Anthony Wayne) for Promote and Publicize FCCLA; Jacob Lyons (Penta/Anthony Wayne) for Chapter Website; and Joseph McQuillin (Penta/Otsego) for Teach & Train.
      Bronze medals were awarded to Penta/Otsego Junior High students Dawn Michalski and Jacob Premo for Environmental Ambassador.
      FCCLA is a dynamic and effective student organization that helps young men and women become leaders and address important personal, family, work, and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences education.
