Students Earn Awards at 2017 BPA Regional Competition

     Congratulations to all Penta Career Center students who competed at the regional Business Professionals of America (BPA) competition on January 25 at Bowling Green State University. Fourteen students earned top awards at the contest and qualify for the 2017 BPA State Leadership Conference March 16 & 17 in Columbus. In addition, 47 other students were recognized at the regional competition by placing in the top six.  Penta satellite business programs at Swanton and Northwood High Schools also had several students earn regional awards and qualify for the BPA state contest. 

    The BPA state qualifiers are:  David Alvarez (Bowling Green) for Network Design Team; Sam Case (Perrysburg) for Fundamental Desktop Publishing; Austin Cox (Otsego) for C++ Programming; Blake Dickerson (Woodmore) for Network Design Team; Carlin Floriana (Oak Harbor) for Legal Office Procedures; Oscar Garcia (Oak Harbor) for Digital Media Production; Tyler Jenkins (Northwood) for Systems Administration Using Cisco®; James Nierman (Springfield) for Network Design Team; Alec Nowak (Anthony Wayne) for C++ Programming; Sierra Ohms (Rossford) for Intermediate Word Processing Skills; Rachel Parsons (Eastwood) for Legal Office Procedures; Jacob Roecker (Lake) for Network Design Team and Information Technology Concepts; Toni Tristan (Northwood) for Legal Office Procedures; and Katlynn West (Bowling Green) for Human Resource Management.

     Students at Swanton High School who also competed at the regional BPA contest and qualify for the state BPA contest include: Trevor Schaller and Tanner Callicotte (both for Financial Accounting); Jarrett Macek, Chase Avalos and Natalie Wadbolt (all for Advanced Accounting); Allison Mishka, Madalyn Silveous, Duyane Goings, and Haley McMahan (all for Payroll Accounting); and Lauren O’Riordan for Financial Math and Analysis.

    Chandler Wyland, from Penta’s business program at Northwood High School, qualifies for the state BPA competition in the Management, Marketing and Human Resources contest.

      BPA is a career and technical student organization for students pursuing careers in business management, office administration, information technology, and other career fields.
