Herringshaw Named 2015 Outstanding Treasurer

Carrie Herringshaw, treasurer of Penta Career Center, has been named the 2015 Outstanding Treasurer/CFO of the Year by the Ohio Association of School Business Officials’ (OASBO) Foundation for School Business Management. Herringshaw, a 25-year veteran of Penta, received her award on November 11 at the Ohio School Boards Association’s Capital Conference in Columbus.
Herringshaw was nominated for the honor by fellow treasurer Gina Fernbaugh, treasurer/CFO at Wood County Educational Service Center. “Carrie was a critical player in the planning, levy passage, design, and construction of the new Penta Career Center,” Fernbaugh noted in her nomination. “She has also been very involved in state school funding, particularly for joint vocational schools.”
The award, in its 30h year, was created by OASBO’s Foundation to recognize the accomplishments of Ohio’s school business officials in their exceptional service to their districts, communities and the profession. The honor also provides a $500 college scholarship for a Penta senior, sponsored by American Fidelity Assurance Company.
Herringshaw is active in the profession as well. She recently served as president of OASBO’s Career Tech Chapter, previously serving as that organization’s secretary, treasurer, and vice president. She also serves as a resource for many of the area’s treasurers, having been an integral part of creating a new funding formula for adult career technical centers.
