Construction Under Way for Penta-Built Habitat for Humanity House

Penta Career Center, Habitat for Humanity of Wood County and the Village of Walbridge have joined forces to help build a safe and energy efficient home for future homeowner, Brittany Periatt and her son. The Periatt’s new home will be the first Habitat build in Walbridge.  To celebrate the beginning of home building project, a blessing ceremony and frame signing took place on November 10 at the construction site located at 121 Clinton St. in Walbridge.

This is the 34th home built in Wood County as part of Habitat for Humanity of Wood County’s home ownership program. Students and Rob Weaver, instructor of Construction Carpentry, began construction in September by building the walls inside their lab at Penta. In addition, Pat Luther, instructor of Construction Masonry, worked with his students to lay the foundation in preparation for the floor and walls. The home will be constructed over the duration of the school year. Estimated completion is the Spring of 2016. The house is about 1,100 square feet in size.
