Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, 882 hours

 Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration is a 38-week program in the fundamentals of furnace components, operation, fuels and controls, air conditioning, refrigeration, refrigerant recovery and sheet metal.  “Green” technologies within the HVAC field are stressed through out this program.

Having successfully completed this program, the student will be qualified for an entry-level position as
a technician in the heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning industry. The EPA Refrigerant Transition
and Recovery Certification Test is included in the program.  This program covers all of the following
topics:
 

  • Energy Start Designations
  • Blueprint Reading/Schematics
  • Sheet Metal
  • Heat Loads
  • Green Heating and Air 
    Conditioning Applications
  • Gas & electric Furnaces
  • Hi-Efficiency Gas Boiler
  • AC & Heat Pumps
  • Electricity for HVAC
  • Geothermal Applications
  • Energy Efficiency – Heat and Air
    Conditioning Applications
  • ASE Refrigeration / Refrigerant Recovery
    and Recycling Exam
  • EPA Core Type 1,2 & 3 Refrigerant Certification Exam
  • Safety / CPR / First Aid / AED
  • Introduction to Computers
  • Job Seeking Skills

All students will receive Basic HVAC Technician equipment which includes basic hand tools and a multimeter for use during the course.  The Basic HVAC Technician equipment will become the student’s property upon the successful completion of the course.

This program is Toledo Heating and Air Contractors Association (THACCA) approved. After the full training is completed, 576 hours can be credited towards a journeyman program.
