American Red Cross Training

First Aid / CPR / AED Programs Available                

American Red Cross, First Aid, CPR & AED programs are available for companies and organizations in need of training.  Call for additional information.

CPR Courses – American Heart Association 

Knowing the skills of CPR makes you a more vital member of your community.  Recognizing the warning signs & symptoms of a heart attack, stroke, or choking is critical to assisting someone experiencing these difficulties.  Many deaths can be prevented if someone trained in CPR provides proper life-saving measures until trained professionals take over.  You can be a vital link in the chain of survival of “Early Access, Early CPR, Early Defibrillation and Early Advanced Care”. 

Books for most courses must be picked up at Penta Career Center Continuing Education 1 week before class (2 weeks for Healthcare Provider) to read, study, and take the pretest to bring to first class.  Books can be mailed out if registration is paid and received a minimum of 14 days before class.  (Get a group together to make sure class will be held,)  A minimum of 6 students are required for any class to be offered.

Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers  $75 

This course is for healthcare professionals working in the healthcare industry.  This course covers Adult, Child & Infant CPR & Choking, Two-Rescuer CPR, Use of the AED, and Barrier Devices and Bag-Valve Mask.  A written test with 84% passing rate required and skills test is given.  Tuition must be paid 2 weeks in advance to be able to pick up the textbook to read and study before coming to class.

Fee includes textbook and CPR card, which will be issued if the course is passed. 

(This is the required CPR course for those in healthcare professions, healthcare students and entering an EMT program).     

Fees listed are for individuals participating in classes at Penta. Call to put your name on a list to form a class long before you need it.  On site fees can be arranged according to Instructor class time, travel & set up time, equipment fee, and materials per person in class.

CPR For Family and Friends             $35 

This 4-hour course will meet the needs for those learning CPR to protect family members & friends.  How to call for help, Adult, Child & Infant CPR and Choking, and Stroke will be covered.  No test is required.  Fee includes book.

Floral Design and Bow Making, 18 hours 

Gain the knowledge and experience that will help to prepare you for a position in the world of floral designing. You will dazzle your family and friends with your beautiful and innovative creations for homes, businesses, parties, weddings, etc. The instructor is well known in the floral business for her expertise and creativity. 

Learn how to arrange and care for fresh, silk, and dried flowers using various container shapes.  Making bows to accompany the pieces is also included.

Heartsaver AED CPR
            $75 

This 4-hour course is for those who may participate in a program of Public Access Defibrillation.  Only Adult CPR & Choking procedures, use of Barrier Devices and the use of the Automatic External Defibrillator is covered. There is a maximum of four participants per instructor.  The material must be read and studied before class. Fee includes textbook and CPR card.

Heartsaver CPR            $55 

This course is for anyone who acts as a rescuer as part of his or her job responsibility.  Adult, Child & Infant CPR and Choking, and the use of Barrier Devices are covered for rescue of family, co-workers or the general public. 

Fee includes textbook & CPR card.   

There is a shorter course for learning Adult only CPR procedures for a fee of $35.00 including textbook & card.        

If only Child / Infant procedures are to be learned, there is a shorter course
for a fee of $30.00 including textbook & card.

OHIO Peace Officer Training
(Private Security Training Academy
)

Penta Career Center’s Adult and Continuing Education Division is offering an Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission (OPOTC) approved Unarmed Private Security Training Academy. This course will provide the individual with the base knowledge and skills to become a security officer. Each student, who successfully completes the course, will receive:

  • Ohio Peace Officer Unarmed Private Security Certificate

  • American Heart First Aid Certificate

  • Hazardous Materials Awareness Certificate

  • Terrorism Recognition Response Certificate

WorkKeys Pre-entrance Exam $30.00
Penta Career Center requires students to complete the WorkKeys Pre-entrance exam. This exam takes approximately
2 1/2 hours and consists of three 45 minute components over Math, Reading, and Locating Information.

OPOTC Entrance Requirements
All students must complete an OPOTC statement of Understanding, and OPOTC student enrollment certification record,
and meet with the school commander four weeks prior to the start of class.
