Students Recognized at SkillsUSA National Conference
     Congratulations to six Penta Career Center students who were recognized at the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference held June 22-26, 2015 in Louisville, Kentucky. Two students were top medals winners and they included: Josh Blochowski (Maumee), from the Culinary Arts program, who earned a silver medal or second place in the United States for the Culinary Arts contest; and Eric Kurtz (Oak Harbor), from the Construction Masonry program, who earned a bronze medal or third place in the United States for the Masonry contest. Blochowski received $34,000 in college scholarships and Kurtz received an IPad Mini, a Lowe’s gift card and construction tools. (See the "Photo Gallery" on the Penta website for photos.) 
Penta's 50th Senior Class Recognized
The 50th senior class at Penta Career Center was honored May 19-21, 2015 during six separate ceremonies in the Susor Auditorium on the Penta campus. The 640 seniors, who participated in ceremonies over the course of three days, represented the 50th class to complete career-technical programs since 1965 at Penta. In addition, the Outstanding Student Award was presented to 51 seniors based on performance and excellence in their individual career-technical program. 50th Senior Class at Penta Career Center to be recognized May 19-21
   The 50th Senior Class at Penta Career Center will be honored during special Senior Recognition Ceremonies on Tuesday, May 19; Wednesday, May 20; and Thursday, May 21, 2015. (See below for ceremony details.). The high school seniors, who will be completing career-technical programs at Penta, are from sixteen area school districts (Anthony Wayne, Benton-Carroll-Salem, Bowling Green, Eastwood, Elmwood, Genoa, Lake, Maumee, North Baltimore, Northwood, Otsego, Perrysburg, Rossford, Springfield, Swanton and Woodmore). All ceremonies will take place in the Susor Auditorium at Penta Career Center, 9301 Buck Road in Perrysburg Township. 
2015 Ohio SkillsUSA Contest Winners
Congratulations to Penta Career Center students who earned top awards at the Ohio SkillsUSA Championships on April 15 in Columbus! 

The following first place winners received gold medals and qualify for the National SkillsUSA Championships June 22-26, 2015 in Louisville, Kentucky: Josh Blochowski (Maumee) – Culinary Arts, Culinary Arts contest; Eric Kurtz (Oak Harbor) – Construction Masonry – Masonry contest; Alex Moore (Eastwood) – Automotive Collison Repair, Collision Repair contest; Jaclyn Sampsell (Genoa) – Cosmetology, Nail Care contest (model Alexis Neagley – Perrysburg); Zach Wilson (Swanton) – Construction Carpentry, Cabinetmaking contest; and Derek Fillmore (Oak Harbor), Efrem Simmons (Maumee), James Simon (Eastwood) – all from Construction Concepts, Tech Prep Showcase (Architecture and Construction).
2015 STEM Summer Camp
Students currently enrolled in grades 7 through 9, who reside within one of the 16 school districts served by Penta Career Center, are invited to register for the 2015 STEM Summer Camp. The camp takes place June 15 – 19, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the Penta Career Center campus, 9301 Buck Road. Cost for the camp is $25. 
Congratulations to New Members of Penta's 2015 National Technical Honor Society
Congratulations to 22 Penta Career Center students who were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) during a special ceremony at Penta on April 9, 2015. 
8th Graders Explore Careers at Penta
More than 2,000 8th graders from Anthony Wayne, Benton-Carroll-Salem, Bowling Green, Eastwood, Elmwood, Genoa, Lake, Maumee, Northwood, Otsego, Perrysburg, Rossford, Swanton, and Woodmore had the opportunity to explore a variety of careers during Penta's annual Career Expo. 
Culinary Arts Students Prepare Dishes from 11 Countries for Taste of the Nations March 12 & 13, 2015
High school seniors, who are studying Culinary Arts at Penta Career Center, have spent the past few weeks researching foods from foreign countries and will be preparing many delectable dishes for sampling during an event called “Taste of the Nations” on Thursday, March 12 and Friday, March 13, 2015 between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Taste of the Nations will take place in the student-operated Culinary Connection restaurant on the campus of Penta Career Center, 9301 Buck Road in Perrysburg Township. 
1965 Ford F-100 Restoration Project Earns Awards at AutoRama
The Automotive Technology and Automotive Collision Repair programs at Penta Career Center won first and third place awards for the restored 1965 Ford F-100 truck at the 2015 AutoRama at Cobo Center in Detroit March 6 - 8. Penta took first place in the high school division and third place in the 1957-1972 division.  
Student Projects on Display at The Zoo
Penta Career Center students from the Landscape & Turfgrass Management and Floral Design/Greenhouse Production programs have spent the past few weeks creating projects for display at The Toledo Zoo's Garden Show. 
Lt. Governor Visits Penta
On February 19, Penta was pleased to host Lieutenant Governor Mary Taylor. This was Taylor’s first visit to Penta. Her visit included a tour of some of Penta’s career-technical labs and interaction with students and staff.
Regional SkillsUSA Contest
Congratulations to all Penta Career Center students who competed at the Regional SkillsUSA contest at EHOVE Career Center on February 13. Penta had 32 medal winners. Way to go students and thanks to the staff members who helped prepare the students for the competition! 
Culinary Arts Students Place 2nd at ProStart Invitational
Congratulations to Penta Culinary Arts students who placed second as a team today at the 2015 Ohio ProStart Invitational competition in Columbus. The team members included Josh Blochowski, Cassidy Steinline, AnaPaula Llanas, and Gino Parker. 
Local SkillsUSA Contest
Nearly 100 Penta Career Center students competed on January 22 in the local SkillsUSA contest held at Penta. Competitions covered areas such as customer service, job interview, job skills demonstration, prepared speech, related math, carpentry, masonry, and electricity. Top contestants will advance to the Regional SkillsUSA competition in February at EHOVE Career Center. Congratulations to all student competitors! 
Ohio DECA State Officer
Congratulations to Brenna Franck, a senior in the Penta-Oak Harbor Marketing Education program, who was recently elected as the Public Relations Officer for Ohio DECA.  Franck is a member of DECA, a career-technical organization for Marketing Education students. 
Students and Staff Donate to Operation Breadbasket
Penta Career Center students, who are members of the Student Leadership Council, helped organize the Operation Breadbasket food, clothing and toy drive this month. The drive benefits families who reside in Perrysburg Township. Penta students and staff donated nearly 1,600 food items plus clothing and toys for Operation Breadbasket.

Students and Staff Donate 775 Pairs of Socks
In November, Sophomore Exploratory students along with members of the Actively Caring 4 People organization, coordinated a school-wide sock collection for local organization Hannah's Socks. The students coordinated a contest between cluster areas to generate interest in the community service project. At total of 775 pairs of socks were collected. 
Students Building Habitat for Humanity House in Rossford
As part of its 50th Anniversary activities, Penta Career Center is partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Wood County and the City of Rossford to help build a safe and energy efficient home for future homeowner, Alex Coronado and her two children. A Wall Raising Ceremony was held on October 17, 2014 on the build site located at 223 Bacon St. in Rossford. 
Congratulations to the 2014 Penta Outstanding Alumni!
Penta Career Center has selected seven former students as recipients of the 2014 Outstanding Alumni Award. The recipients were recognized during a special evening banquet at Penta on November 6, 2014. Each year the Penta Career Center Outstanding Alumni Award is bestowed upon individuals who have completed a career-technical training program at Penta and who are currently working in a successful career. 
Students Earn Top Awards at FCCLA National Conference
Dozens of students from Penta’s Early Childhood Education, Teaching Professions, Culinary Arts, and Family and Consumer Sciences programs competed at the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) National Leadership Conference held July 6-10, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas. Thirty students earned either gold or silver medals in various competitions. 
Student Earns Top 10 at HOSA Nationals
Haley Ochs (Oak Harbor High School), who completed the Medical Technologies program this past May at Penta Career Center, has earned a Top 10 Award at the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) National Leadership Conference.

Several Penta Career Center students earned awards at the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference held June 23-27, 2014 in Kansas City, Missouri.  
Students Earn Top Awards at 2014 DECA International Career Development Conference!
In May, 57 Marketing Education students competed at the 2014 DECA International Career Development Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. Several Penta Career Center satellite students won top awards at the International competition.

Congratulations to Jan Bain, instructor of Cosmetology, who was named the 2014 Penta Career Center Teacher of the Year.

2014 FCCLA National Qualifiers
Students from Penta Career Center and several of its satellite programs recently earned top awards at the Ohio Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Convention in Columbus, Ohio. Each student winner received a medal and certificate for their accomplishments. As a result of earning top awards in Columbus, 35 students qualify for the 2014 FCCLA National Leadership Conference July 6-10 in San Antonio, Texas. These students include the following.

2014 National Technical Honor Society Induction
Congratulations to Penta Career Center students who were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) during a special ceremony on March 27, 2014. This year 16 students were honored for their career-technical achievements. 
Students Collect 600 Pairs of Shoes
During the month of February and part of the month of March, students and staff at Penta Career Center generously donated 600 pairs of shoes to Soles4Souls, a global not-for-profit institution that collects new and used shoes and then distributes them to people in need both in the United States and overseas. 
Welcome 8th Graders!
On Wednesday, March 19th and Thursday, March 20th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., about 2,400 area eighth graders will get the opportunity to explore a variety of careers during Penta Career Center’s first-ever Career Expo. The event takes place on the Penta campus, 9301 Buck Road in Perrysburg Township. 
Students Earn Top Awards at Regional SkillsUSA Competition
Congratulations to 13 Penta Career Center students who earned top awards at the SkillsUSA Regional Competition in Tiffin on February 14, 2014. All award winners will advance to the Ohio SkillsUSA Championships in Columbus, Ohio on April 15 & 16, 2014. First Place (gold medal) winners included: Jared Coker (Genoa), Welding, for the Welding contest and Charles McCaw (Swanton), Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, for the Precision Machining contest. 
Students Building A House in Perrysburg Township

Giving Back This Holiday Season
The Penta Career Center Student Leadership Team helped organize a collection for "Operation Breadbasket" for Perrysburg Township.  Students collected over 2,000 non-perishable food items and about 1,000 toys and clothes.  Donations were accepted from fellow students as well as Penta staff members.
