Students Earn Top Awards at Ohio SkillsUSA Championships!
Congratulations to Penta Career Center students who competed in the Ohio SkillsUSA Championships on April 26-27 in Columbus, Ohio. Twenty-seven students earned either a gold, silver or bronze medal. A very special congratulations to Alex Santellana (Rossford), from the Advanced Manufacturing Technology program, who earned first place (gold medal) for the Extemporaneous Speech contest. Alex will advance to the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference this summer in Louisville, Kentucky. 
2016 Penta Academic Achievement Award Recipients
Congratulations to the following seniors who were recognized with the 2016 Academic Achievement Award. The students were honored during a special evening ceremony at Penta on April 21. Seniors who received the award maintained a 3.25 grade point average for the first three quarters of the current school year. 
Students Inducted into Penta's National Technical Honor Society
    Penta Career Center students were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) during a special ceremony on April 7, 2016 at Penta. This year 15 students were honored for their career-technical achievements.
     The NTHS is similar to the National Honor Society at comprehensive high schools where students are recognized for scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Membership in the NTHS at Penta requires students to maintain excellent attendance, good behavior and a 3.5 overall grade point average. In addition, inductees must meet the seven attributes of NTHS (skills, honesty, service, responsibility, scholarship, citizenship, and leadership).
Students Earn Top Awards at the Ohio HOSA Competition!
Congratulations to 13 Penta students from health care programs who earned top awards at the Ohio HOSA Competition on April 6. These students qualify to compete at the HOSA International Leadership Conference June 22-25 in Nashville, Tennessee. 
Marketing Education Students Earn Top Ohio DECA Awards
Congratulations to all Penta Career Center Marketing Education students who competed March 18 & 19 at the Ohio DECA competition in Columbus. 42 students earned Top 10 awards and they qualify for the DECA International Competition in Nashville, Tennessee later this spring. 
Top Awards at 2016 Ohio Business Professionals of America Contest
From (L-R) Sam Case (Perrysburg), Interactive Media; Aulora Jerrel (Genoa), Interactive Media; Joel Favorite (Anthony Wayne), Information Technologies Academy; and Victoria Smith (Eastwood), Medical & Legal Office Management were among seven students who earned top 10 awards at the Ohio Business Professionals of America (BPA) competition on March 18. Lindsey Fickel, Hannah Gombash and Jarrett Macek from the Penta/Swanton Accounting programs also earned top 10 awards. 
Students Earn Top Awards at HOSA Competition
Congratulations to the following Penta juniors and seniors who competed at the HOSA Regional Contest on February 5 at The University of Toledo and earned top 5 awards. As a result of their top awards, they qualify for the state competition that takes place in March. HOSA is an international student organization that promotes career opportunities in the health care industry. 
Students Earn Business Professionals of America Awards
Congratulations to on campus and satellite students who earned Top 5 awards and were recognized at the recent Business Professionals of America (BPA) Regional Contest at BGSU! These students will advance to the BPA State Leadership Conference March 17-18, 2016 in Columbus. 
Culinary Arts Students are 1st at Ohio ProStart
Congratulations to four students in Penta's Culinary Arts program who earned First Place on February 14 at the Ohio ProStart contest in Columbus! The team included Samantha DeSelms (Bowling Green), Nichole McDonald (Oak Harbor), Brooke Pennell (Woodmore) and Abbey Goupill (Lake).

Paul Walker Elected President of Penta Career Center Board of Education
The Penta Career Center Board of Education, during its January 13, 2016 organizational meeting, has elected Paul Walker, who represents the Bowling Green City School District, as president of the Board. In addition, Mark Schoenlein, who represents the Perrysburg School District, was elected vice president of the Penta Board. 
Holiday Community Service Project
Each year students and staff at Penta Career Center generously donate food and toys to Perrsyburg Township's Annual Operation Breadbasket. This year over 400 food and toys were donated. Penta's career-technical programs had a competition and several classes collected the most items. 
Congratulations to Penta's 2015 Outstanding Alumni!
   Penta Career Center has selected six former students as recipients of the 2015 Outstanding Alumni Award. The alumni were recognized during a special evening banquet at Penta on November 12, 2015. Each year the Penta Career Center Outstanding Alumni Award is bestowed upon individuals who have completed a career-technical training program at Penta and who are currently working in a successful career. Since the award’s inception in 1993, 132 former high school or adult education students have been honored with the award.  
Construction Under Way for Penta-Built Habitat for Humanity House
            Penta Career Center, Habitat for Humanity of Wood County and the Village of Walbridge have joined forces to help build a safe and energy efficient home for future homeowner, Brittany Periatt and her son. The Periatt’s new home will be the first Habitat build in Walbridge. To celebrate the beginning of home building project, a blessing ceremony and frame signing took place on November 10 at the construction site located at 121 Clinton St. in Walbridge. 
See how we've been shaping careers for 50 years
Penta Career Center celebrated its 50th Anniversary on Sunday, September 13, 2015, in a community-wide event that included an open house and cake reception. One of the featured historical objects on display was a 1965 Ford F-100 truck that was restored by Penta students and staff. During the celebration, Penta’s career-technical labs and classrooms were open to visitors. Prior to the community celebration, a 50th anniversary program was offered inside the Susor auditorium for special guests, Penta staff and students. 
Students Earn Awards at National FCCLA Conference
Congratulations to students from Penta Career Center’s Early Childhood Education, Teaching Professions, Culinary Arts, and satellite Family and Consumer Sciences programs who earned either gold, silver or bronze medals in various competitions at the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) National Leadership Conference held July 6-9, 2015 in Washington D.C.  
Students Recognized at SkillsUSA National Conference
     Congratulations to six Penta Career Center students who were recognized at the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference held June 22-26, 2015 in Louisville, Kentucky. Two students were top medals winners and they included: Josh Blochowski (Maumee), from the Culinary Arts program, who earned a silver medal or second place in the United States for the Culinary Arts contest; and Eric Kurtz (Oak Harbor), from the Construction Masonry program, who earned a bronze medal or third place in the United States for the Masonry contest. Blochowski received $34,000 in college scholarships and Kurtz received an IPad Mini, a Lowe’s gift card and construction tools. (See the "Photo Gallery" on the Penta website for photos.) 
Penta's 50th Senior Class Recognized
The 50th senior class at Penta Career Center was honored May 19-21, 2015 during six separate ceremonies in the Susor Auditorium on the Penta campus. The 640 seniors, who participated in ceremonies over the course of three days, represented the 50th class to complete career-technical programs since 1965 at Penta. In addition, the Outstanding Student Award was presented to 51 seniors based on performance and excellence in their individual career-technical program. 50th Senior Class at Penta Career Center to be recognized May 19-21
   The 50th Senior Class at Penta Career Center will be honored during special Senior Recognition Ceremonies on Tuesday, May 19; Wednesday, May 20; and Thursday, May 21, 2015. (See below for ceremony details.). The high school seniors, who will be completing career-technical programs at Penta, are from sixteen area school districts (Anthony Wayne, Benton-Carroll-Salem, Bowling Green, Eastwood, Elmwood, Genoa, Lake, Maumee, North Baltimore, Northwood, Otsego, Perrysburg, Rossford, Springfield, Swanton and Woodmore). All ceremonies will take place in the Susor Auditorium at Penta Career Center, 9301 Buck Road in Perrysburg Township. 
2015 Ohio SkillsUSA Contest Winners
Congratulations to Penta Career Center students who earned top awards at the Ohio SkillsUSA Championships on April 15 in Columbus! 

The following first place winners received gold medals and qualify for the National SkillsUSA Championships June 22-26, 2015 in Louisville, Kentucky: Josh Blochowski (Maumee) – Culinary Arts, Culinary Arts contest; Eric Kurtz (Oak Harbor) – Construction Masonry – Masonry contest; Alex Moore (Eastwood) – Automotive Collison Repair, Collision Repair contest; Jaclyn Sampsell (Genoa) – Cosmetology, Nail Care contest (model Alexis Neagley – Perrysburg); Zach Wilson (Swanton) – Construction Carpentry, Cabinetmaking contest; and Derek Fillmore (Oak Harbor), Efrem Simmons (Maumee), James Simon (Eastwood) – all from Construction Concepts, Tech Prep Showcase (Architecture and Construction).
2015 STEM Summer Camp
Students currently enrolled in grades 7 through 9, who reside within one of the 16 school districts served by Penta Career Center, are invited to register for the 2015 STEM Summer Camp. The camp takes place June 15 – 19, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the Penta Career Center campus, 9301 Buck Road. Cost for the camp is $25.

8th Graders Explore Careers at Penta
More than 2,000 8th graders from Anthony Wayne, Benton-Carroll-Salem, Bowling Green, Eastwood, Elmwood, Genoa, Lake, Maumee, Northwood, Otsego, Perrysburg, Rossford, Swanton, and Woodmore had the opportunity to explore a variety of careers during Penta's annual Career Expo. 
Culinary Arts Students Prepare Dishes from 11 Countries for Taste of the Nations March 12 & 13, 2015
High school seniors, who are studying Culinary Arts at Penta Career Center, have spent the past few weeks researching foods from foreign countries and will be preparing many delectable dishes for sampling during an event called “Taste of the Nations” on Thursday, March 12 and Friday, March 13, 2015 between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Taste of the Nations will take place in the student-operated Culinary Connection restaurant on the campus of Penta Career Center, 9301 Buck Road in Perrysburg Township. 
1965 Ford F-100 Restoration Project Earns Awards at AutoRama
The Automotive Technology and Automotive Collision Repair programs at Penta Career Center won first and third place awards for the restored 1965 Ford F-100 truck at the 2015 AutoRama at Cobo Center in Detroit March 6 - 8. Penta took first place in the high school division and third place in the 1957-1972 division.  
Student Projects on Display at The Zoo
Penta Career Center students from the Landscape & Turfgrass Management and Floral Design/Greenhouse Production programs have spent the past few weeks creating projects for display at The Toledo Zoo's Garden Show.
