Penta Honored with Pacesetter Award
Penta Honored with Pacesetter Award
Penta Career Center is proud to announce that it is the recipient of a Pacesetter School Award from the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB).  Teachers and administrators were on hand in July to accept the award during SREB’s Annual High Schools That Work (HSTW) Staff Development Conference in Orlando, Florida.  
  “We are very honored to receive this award from the SREB,” says Ronald Matter, superintendent of Penta Career Center.  “Over the years, our staff has worked collaboratively to transform our professional development opportunities.  We feel this approach has led to staff ownership of their professional development and an increase in students’ ownership of their learning.”

Start of the 2018-2019 School Year
Important Information for all Penta Students....
- Wednesday, August 15 is the first day of school for all sophomore students and all junior students who are in a career-technical program that is new to them (this includes all students who were in the Sophomore Exploratory program last school year). Any senior student who is either new to Penta or is changing their career-technical program should also report to school on this day.
- Thursday, August 16  - ALL students report to school
- Penta's school day begins at 8:10 a.m. and ends at 2:55 p.m. 
- Class schedules will be distributed to students when they arrive on their first day
- Bus transportation questions should be directed to your member school

Congratulations Class of 2018!
The 53rd senior class at Penta Career Center was honored May 15-17, 2018 during six separate ceremonies in the Susor Auditorium on the Penta campus.  This year, 787 seniors from Penta Career Center’s on campus and satellite programs completed career-technical programs and received Career Passports through Penta.  During the ceremonies, the Outstanding Student Award was presented to 51 seniors based on performance and excellence in their individual career-technical program.

Seniors Earn 2018 Academic Achievement Award
Seniors Earn 2018 Academic Achievement Award
Penta Career Center held its annual Academic Achievement Award Ceremony on April 18, 2018 at the Penta campus.  The award was presented to seniors who achieved excellence in their academic studies by maintaining a 3.25 grade point average for the first three quarters of the school year. During the ceremony, 155 students were recognized.  Special guest speaker at the ceremony was Dr. Steve Robinson, president of Owens Community College. Award recipients received a pin and a certificate for their accomplishment. The award pins for the students were sponsored by Toledo Building Services.  Read More...
Students Inducted into Penta’s National Technical Honor Society
Students Inducted into Penta’s National Technical Honor Society
      Penta Career Center students were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) during a special ceremony on March 22, 2018 at Penta. This year 26 students were honored for their career-technical achievements.  
      The NTHS is similar to the National Honor Society at comprehensive high schools where students are recognized for scholarship, leadership, service, and character.  Membership in the NTHS at Penta requires students to maintain excellent attendance, good behavior and a 3.5 overall grade point average.  In addition, inductees must meet the seven attributes of NTHS (skills, honesty, service, responsibility, scholarship, citizenship, and leadership).  
      Students who were selected for induction into the 2018 NTHS at Penta include: Savannah Banks (Springfield), Sophomore Exploratory; Alana Bankston (Genoa), Culinary Arts; Paige Calopietro (Maumee), Medical Technologies Academy; Moriyah Clint (Rossford), Sophomore Exploratory;

Students Qualify for Ohio BPA Contest
      High school students enrolled in business programs at Penta Career Center and at Penta’s satellite programs at Swanton High School, recently earned awards during the regional contest of Business Professionals of America (BPA) held at Bowling Green State University on January 23.  Thirty students from Penta’s main campus programs earned top awards at the contest and qualify for the 2018 BPA State Leadership Conference March 8 & 9 in Columbus.  In addition, 13 students from Penta’s satellite business programs at Swanton High School also qualify for the BPA state competition.    Read More...
